Finally able to finish building this car kit. It was supposed to be a face off with jondofurito earlier this year, but due to the fact that I can't get it finished on time and have to concentrate on GBWC 2014, therefore I have to leave it aside. Resumed the work straight after GBWC 2014.
The objective for this build this round is to follow how Nagae sensei of Nagae Art Production of Japan has done, as shown in Plamo Tsukurou Custom - SP 25. This is to try out using pearl powder to achieve metallic finishing, and also learn how to do reverse wash on the chrome tyre rim as shown in the video. It is also my first time trying to do detailing using photo-etch parts.
The final result is as follow.
Body Painting Process 1. After all the necessary sanding - priming - checking loop, the kit was primed with Mr Color Base White, followed by sanding to make the surface smooth. 2. Painted with the orange color as base. The orange color is a mixture of Orange + Orange Yellow + Shine red, in 6-3-1 ratio (following Nagae sensei formula). I've added a little bit of fluorescent orange into it. 3. Painted 4 layers of gloss clear. Each layer of gloss clear was allowed to dry for at least 3 days. 4. Lightly sanded with 2000 grit sandpaper. 5. Compounded with Tamiya Compound - coarse -> fine -> finish. 6. Waxed with Tamiya Modelling Wax.
