Alright, pictures first, then explanation later.
The Words
This Sazabi is my first attempt at kit-bashing (or in the Japanese way of putting it, it's modification using parts from other Gunpla kits). After seeing and being influenced by the Gundam Build Figthers anime series, our veteran Zero1st has this idea of building a kit that will have its own unique and distinguishable trademark, much like in the anime where the Star Build Strike Gundam has RG frame and as a result of that, it has its own trademark finishing move - the RG Build Knuckle. So, I jumped into this bandwagon to have a face-off group build with him. We set our rules as such that the trademark has to be presented in our final presentation, and the modification must be done in such a manner that can still recognize the original kit, i.e. Zero1st is using HG 1/144 Nu Gundam as his main subject, so even after all the modifications are done, it has to be still recognized by people as a Nu Gundam.
So going along that path, Zero1st thought about building it with Nu Gundam, whereas I was going to build using HG 1/144 Sazabi. At the same time, I got the MG 1/100 Sinanju given to me by Master Jinn, purposely for me to do whatever I like with it. I decided that I'll go along the path to build my Sazabi with the following trademarks:
So at the end I still managed to get it done in time for GBWC 2014. However, after the competition, I made some minor changes to the display. The entry used to look like this:
Due to the fact that I'm not very satisfy with how the funnels are displayed, I decided to fix it and to become something as in the pictures that I've posted earlier.
More pictures taken of this kit:
The Shield Sword:
The Funnel Gimmick:
Because this kit is installed with the MG Sinanju's inner frame structure, its pose-ability has increased. The work-in-progress for this build can be found in the wip section of this forum.
Lastly...
It's a very hard to build kit for me since this is my first time to go out from my comfort zone to try out kit bashing for the first time. In actual fact, there are a lot of good ideas on how to setup the build, but due to underestimation of me about building the display, I was not able to execute those ideas at all. It was indeed enjoyable, but I don't think that I'll be building another one like this for some times.
Lastly, really appreciate those who have contributed ideas and materials for me to make this kit, really really thank you very much.

- Sword as it's primary & only weapon
- Big shoulder armor
- With cape
- With 2 funnel as supporting mecha
