Resin Primer

Hi all,

Do we need resin primer to prime our resin kit? I read other forums saying that it is not necessary and normal plastic is doing fine. I am thinking to save cost but do not want to ruin my kit unless it necessary. What do you think? Thanks

you may risk paint chipping more often in unprimed resins especially during assembly and handling.
you will find priming ease painting..
like when you are painting on a paper vs plastic..

Thanks. My question is not whether prime or not prime. My question is to use special made for resin primer or to use normal plastic primer for resin kit. Thanks.

I didn't get your questions initially.. i understood now..
diff.. if you have normal plastic primer, try prime it on resin and run your nails thru the dried primer.. it will peel off easily.
with resin primer.. more resistant.. that's the diff..

Ya, as Klay has mention! resin primer is design for resin kit
Some ppl say not necessary have to use resin primer for resin kits but also have to depend, if your resin kit not request lot of masking then u can skip buying it & just using normal primer.

but for my advice is... BUY!!! lol... ;D
coz modeler will turn mad if the paint clipping off at the final stage of coloring!! no one wish that! ;D

if you already have 'metal primer' then u can add in normal plastic primer/paints, it will make the primer/paint more sticking to the parts. (Just my way)
(if add in metal primer, u can't achieve a gloss finish with a thin layer paint even u are using high gloss paint)
