Haha this place a bit empty so I'll contribute a wip of mine. All these are 6 months of work and you may have seen them around so it's condensed a bit: This is a 1/72 Hasegawa kit of the Sea Harrier FRS.1, and one of my favourite versions of the Harrier. Despite being small, this plane remains the only Harrier version to have shot down other airplanes as opposed to its more usual air to ground role. you can read up more about it's legendary Falklands deployment here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sea_harrierSorry but I only got pics till up to recently, but I have built many kits of Harriers and so far Hasegawa's quality still shines through. All parts has come together neatly, even the dreaded intakes. which is sincerely a pain in the *censored* to get right. The aden cannon pods on the belly were also just merely plastic lumps so... Panel lines were drilled, holes for the muzzles were drilled, And finally the ventilation holes for the cannons were drilled out. With a pic of how it should look like for reference.

Looking at the kit, Even if its Hasegawa awesomery, there are a few things that I have to mod. One of this is the small air intakes on top of the fuselage. Shown here is the difference between a failed Italeri kit and the Hasegawa one. left is Italeri. Right is Hasegawa. Pathetic. A wedge was cut out, The offending bump obliterated from the face of the earth, And clumsily glued on the fuselage. Cleaned up, it looks pretty good! The additional intakes next to the cockpit are also another problem; they are just chunks of plastic! So they were hollowed out, And look so much better now.

I've fixed up the belly airbrake and the sidewinder missiles. The original airbrake came with a big pin mark right smack in the middle of it. -vomit- Unfortunately it had raised nuts and patching up that hole meant it's obliteration. The details were remade recessed with a pin, but I don't think it's gone well... Following up, I had the misfortune to have seen a sea harrier walkaround and it appears that a few other details were left out, namely the fuel dump vents. These serve to dump fuel from the aircraft in case of emergency and on this 1/72 kit, it's all plastic bumps. There are three on the aircraft, two on the wing tubes and one on finlike mast on the belly. Holes are drilled out to resemble some thing like this: in reality that fin is hollow, so I slight scribe work was made. Pardon the blur pics, but in a herculean feat of carving, I managed to carve out that auxiliary air vent there too. Originally that part too was a featureless hunk of plastic. -sigh-

Thanks again, It's completed now liao. Just posting up the final update to WIP and the Photoshoot left. ;D Eye opener for me... So many details to get it right... N i tot gundam was difficult.. Yeah, that's a problem with going to the AMS route of getting building scale modelling! You have to replicate things to scale and they're much more fragile than gunpla parts so you need to be careful. Also the more you AMS, the more you find yourself finding more parts you want to get correct... You really need to find a balance there before you go crazy. The kit is pretty much painted up, all decals and weapons affixed and all that is left is just the canopy. Finally I can stop having 4am sleeping nights. HUD is pasted on using white paper glue. This has the nice effect of being water soluble and transparent when dry so it's easy to clean up mistakes. The Canopy. Kind of screw up the tinted part of the canopy (Future don't mix well with thinner... ) Note the detonation cord molded in the canopy. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ejection_seatIts a bit vague and won't show up well on the grey cockpit so here's a technique I learnt from the druidic masters at Britmodeller.com! Suing water soluble paint, we highlight the MDC And after cleaning it with cotton buds and toothpicks, we can see the MDC highlighted clearly now, And makes for a much convincing finish. And so now it's finally complete! The photoshoot will come soon guys!
