Trumpeter's KV-II. Going OOB with this one and practice heavy weathering effect. Painted the KV-II with black base and highlighted with red brown. Don't you just hate it when you've started painting then you notice some sink molds? A bit of Mr.Liquid Putty will solve this.

Putty sanded off and respray. Then I use green and randomly highlight the tank. Then I apply one layer of clear coat and leave the kit to dry for 1 day. This is to protect the paint for the next session... Hairspray!!! Got the cheapest one - costs me around RM10 - RM11. I randomly spray the hairspray and sprinkle unsifted sand almost immediately. Hairspray dries quickly so you have to be quick. Otherwise the sand or salt; your choice won't stick and be blown away when you apply your paint using airbrush. I leave it to dry for about half an hour.

Give the whole tank another coat of off white filter. I brush the hairspray onto the wheel and spray a coat of off white. Once dried, I scrape off the white using circular motion. A bit of water loosen up the hairspray and paints came off easily. Tracks were given a coat of burnt iron on top of flat black coat. I use the segmented/indy tracks instead of the belt one.

Start creating the base for this build. An idea of a bunch of Russian soldier poses with the beast for photography comes to mind. Figures are from Masterbox set.

Sorry, noob here, why mask with papers?? I mask with paper on certain area to in my attempt to create a worn out look of the winter wash. The torn papers are simply tacked on using Blu-tack, spray over the whole tank with white and the remove. This will create random 'edges' - soft and hard edge depending on the angle of your airbrush. A few layers of filter is needed to blend in the contrast.

Base created. Just need to add snow and maybe some foliage. Figures painted except for the boots and gears. One thing I'm concern is the color of the uniform. The kit color chart says Russian Green but the photos on the box looks more like khaki.
