After forsaking my Gundam Unicorn for a year due to my family vacation last year, I am finally back on it, and I currently revising my original concept of armor HWS, into what i am still not sure yet, but for now i started with modding the Unicorn itself first, few things I would be re-looking is the articulations and detailing.
If you wan to see my old mod, U can check out the old post on forum.zerogunz.com/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=11492
This is what i start off with, my last mod I stopped last year, as you can see some of the pla plates starting to turn yellow -no2-
Close up detail of pla plating
Extent the neck a bit
Start the new mod with shoulder articulation first, i actually follow the same system they use on RX-78 V2 and some of the newer MG, joins from katobukiya parts
The armor need a bit of trimming in order to fit the new join.
And there you have it, more flexible shoulder. I'm loving this =D but the little shoulder sensor on the unicorn will limits it's mobility a bit, I did not install the sensors when taking this pic
Moving on next to the hip articulation, throw away the original hip articulations and replace it with hobby base PPC, also take this opportunity to extent the hip height.
Articulation test. loving this as well =X at least i have a more soild hip now -good-
Quick detailing on the back pack
Arm unit mod. pla plate added to secure the extended saber mount
Extent the upper arm frame.
Also extended lower arm section
Overall a slightly longer arm
The most important articulation to mod, the knee angle -angry- like any unicorn mod, trim away the excessive area. wonder why Bandai never look for better ways to improves the knee bend.
I decided to use back my sliding system i use on my 2007 Unicorn raiser, but with improve system. As you can see a big portion of the leg have to be trim away.
The Peg to mount the booster
The booster unit also require some extra engineering, the join taken from my left over HG144 scale unicorn parts
Test mount
Test bend, yeah! in your face Bandai! -strike-
Detailing on the leg unit.
I really like the HG 144 scale unicorn mod by gunpla love Seira Masuo, so a bit of influence on the feet armor
once again throw away he useless leg articulation and swap it with a Hobby base ppc join
Even the feet side wing was rework, glue them both together and rework a simple mount.
Feet Articulation test.
A mod needed for the front skirt armor, very important for leg bend articulation
Finish mod on the whole unircon
Ok, here comes the fun part, test kneel down with all the new articulation mod.
With the bod mod done, I am moving slowly into the weapons, i starting with a beam pistol first.
