This is a project mainly to experiment on pearl powder.
I realised as to, or even worse, than metallic paint, pearl paint is extremely unforgiving for surface imperfection. The tiniest scratches n imperfection in smoothness will be magnified with pearl coat or paint.
For this project, i had experienced some hair pulling moments due to this characteristic of pearl.
Basically what i suppose to do was: 1) prime --> 2) one layer of flat white --> 3) coat with pearl powder n a bit of white paint --> 4) panel lining n decal --> lightly coat with pearl white n a drop of white paint.
I use flat color is mainly due to i need the flat base in the flat color to help me get rid of all the tiny scratches n such before the pearl can magnify them.
As for the psycho frame:
1) dark gray (Darker than i want) --> 2) panel line --> Coat with pearl that reflects blue.
This is kinda disaster too; not on workmanship, but my design of deciding to put such effects in the psychoframe.
The initial idea was to have a psychoframe in normal inner frame gray, but only where places with reflections, the blue color will be visible.
Everything goes fine, until the stage of assembly. The color's fine, the pearl's fine. The only problem is: after assembled, there's simply not enough light, or surface to reflect light to showcase the blue reflection by the pearl powder...... T.T
The base: This base 80% is kit bashing with parts from other kits... included light, LED, optical fibre etc.... trying to create a launching base. Well the final result is the optical fibre's placement, I m not getting the full potentital of it......
That's about it. C &C Welcome!

To Darryl Chow in FB: The inner frame of the kit (not the psycho frame) basically it's those we call "rubbish gray", the left over gray from other projects. However, to make it slightly more interesting n kinda match to the main subject color, this round i added a little blue into the gray. This is a trick i think many can utilize: Instead of always having neutral gray, in different tone, actually one can add a little it of other colors in the gray to make it look more interesting. Eg, this round, i added blue. Other than blue, can be red, clear yellow, green etc. The purpose is just add a little color tone to a totally neutral gray tone. As for %, i oso dont know. just add drop by drop, stir n see whether the inner frame matches the outter armor in the way u like it. Hope that helps!

Thanks for the help ray! Although when you say rubbish grey, does that mean you used neuteral grey and added tones of black until you got the "rubbish grey" colour? Working on my current kit, will be sure to post it on plazone some time soon

Cool! Rubbish gray means whatever leftover gray tone, or sometimes white n black leftover from previous projects. Just pour everything together to keep for future projects.... So it's a mixture of dun-know-what gray....

Rayloke I really enjoy your work very much. The amount of extra detail added are fantastic! I never knew the chain base can be modified to the structural work that you have constructed as a diorama base, with the shading you added neatly it really gives a sense of tone in the realistic color gradient Do you use stencil dry transfer or water decal for this beautiful model? cheers, Miller See

Not a usual base for vignette. I strongly believe this is a potential trend setter because I am very tempted to copy the base concept ! =D
