I wanted to Top Coat my kits. So I was wandering how does all the sifu here does it. Do u spray your kit piece by piece? or u spray all while together after assembled?
Also does the brand ARTLINE is water based ink. If I spary my top coat (AEROSOL LACQUER) on my kit with water based ink. Will it cause bleed effect?

As for top coat process there's 2 statement for you to consider:-
1. Certain parts of the kit need to be spray together due to joint parts. Unless you ve' pre-mod on specific pegs, you can spray it individually.
2. For metallic finishing, it would be good to coat it piece by piece so that you can have the a coating consistency. Technically, 'bling-bling' surface flaw tends to get spotted easily if you ve' uneven top coat finishing.
Artline products contained alcohol based substance. Can't provide you an exact answer cos never try before. But I guess it will smear due to chemical reaction. the best way to find out is to try out on a piece of plaplate and witness the results.

also, it depends whether you're hardworking or lazy. lazy ppl like me, i top coat whole kit together.
advantage? FAST. i'm lazy, n i do my kits quick. hence, 1 shot on. disadvantage? spray coat may be uneven. so have to be VERY careful to ensure evenness. sometimes, to avoid being too uneven, i spray the top coat section by section i.e. arms, legs, body instead of 1 whole kit. most ppl do it piece by piece...
on the ARTLINE markers; no, it's not a good thing to use. especially the permanent markers. plus the tips are too thick for gundam panel lines. permanent markers are hard to erase...if u want use artline, i advise you to use water/poster colours instead. easier to clean compared to artline.

always spray piece by piece. Already spent so much time working on the model, wont let a rush top coat spoil everything....
