My ambitious personal GB, 4 IAF recce Mirages. All will be in camo scheme. Ingredients: 4 boxes of HobbyBoss 1/48 Mirage lllC/J 4 AML's Resin conversion kit: - Moshel - Tashetz - Tarmil - Tzniut each comes with the aircraft markings. Still waiting for a couple of ATAR 9C exhaust conversion kit set. While waiting for those kits to arrive, I start painting the cockpit tubs and seats. Just need some detailing and highlights. I've also start cutting the nose of the Mirages.

The ATAR 9C exhaust kit arrived on Wednesday. Actually, I wanted to get the PJ Productions' but since only one available, I get my second copy from AML. Later I found out that Wolfpack Design also have them <_< . Don't you just hate it when that happens? Anyways, I start cutting the resin parts off the pour stubs. Here's the PJ Productions example. Pretty straight forward. Only 2 resin parts: the burner can and the tail end. Test fitting reveals that I need to shave off some of the 'ribs' inside the fuselage - which originally will hold the kit's burner can. Bad surgical work on my part. Don't come to me for plastic surgery ya! The AML's are much more elaborate. 6 resin parts in total plus a couple of PE parts for the grill (not captured in this photo). There is also a copper wire for detailing work on the vanes actuator (?). More parts means more cutting work... The parts fitting are just nice. I haven't done any cleanup yet since cutting the part is almost a day job.

Not much update but have been working on the wings and closing the gear doors. - Yup, in-flight mode it is. Seat are "Olive Drabbed" Tubs are glued into the fuselage (one side only). Need to install the burners before I can close them up properly. Ada nampak macam kilang tak? The kit's burner cans have some ejector pin marks. Puttied and sanded. Haven't mate them together yet. Expect another round of putty and sanding after that. I've ordered some PJ Production pilot figures @ Hannants.

Wow, interesting subject! Keep us posted.....luv to see more of your indept builds! Thanks Phoon, and congrats on your recent win ! The pilots have arrived. They were sent for briefing before their service are required. Burner cans painted so I can finally install them and close up the fuselage. PJ Production's exhaust are easy to install. The AML's exhaust is a tight fit. There are a few time that I thought I've broken the tip! But the AML's (top) gave much more depth compared to PJ Production's (bottom) - thanks to the PE flame grill. The kit's clam shell exhaust tip is a bit plain. Next will be the fun part of modelling - puttying and sanding.

Insert some plastic sheet as shim to blend in the short tail conversion. Later some Bondite will be used. Got some nose job done too. Here's the Tzniut... The others, well, I've just finished cut them off the resin pour stubs. Man, it tiring!

Working on the cameras. There's no color code given so I improvise - based on my previous recce aircraft build, I use Mr. Color 317 for the camera housing. Tire black for radome interior. One of the Tzniut lense. Tarmil nose assembled. Test fit reveals that the nose is undersized! Looks like another shim-job here. Since test fit of the Tarmil nose shows some dip in the join area, I put 1mm plastic sheet as shim on all the join area. All these Mirage will carry 500 liter fuel tanks. Nose job done. Here's the Moshel nose, The Tarmil, ...and the Tashbetz. Still a long way to go...

Pilots were brought in and apparently, the cockpit is too small for them! Can't even fit into the seats!. So extreme measures had to be taken. Some butt trimming and amputation is in order. Almost half of the lower leg is gone. Test fit into the cockpit... See how tight fit it is! Then, try to fit in the IP shroud. The knee need a bit of trimming in order to allow the IP to slide in nicely. Shoot! Forgot about the sticks!
